Overview

You’ve probably heard stories of the wilderness that is Connemara but these stories don’t even begin to convey the beauty that you’ll see when you visit the Wild West of Ireland. Connemara is one of the most unique and breath-taking landscapes that you’ll see anywhere in the world. To its grey stone walls blanketing the green fields to the rising rolling mountains hiding in the clouds that scatter the land, you will find yourself thoroughly in awe of this enchanting part of Ireland. This tour trails thought the Romantic plains of Connemara where you will get to experience the beautiful Irish countryside. Connemara is located about 40-50 minutes outside Galway city. You will be bypassing the city on the way to the Connemara, you see all the buildings, shops, houses and as you drive out to the deeper part of the west you will be amazed by how much the surroundings change. In the blink of an eye you are seeing the grey busy streets to the desolate, isolated kingdom of Connemara. The first stop is to jump aboard and take a cruise down Killary harbour. From November to March this is replaced for a visit to Killary Sheep farm. Next we drive through the dramatic and outstanding Inagh Valley for a photo stop. Onwards we head to Kylemore house and gardens to stroll the grounds and grab some lunch. The tour then goes on to visit the interesting Glengowla silver and lead mines to end the day.

Itinerary

06:30am - Depart Dublin from Suffolk Street by the Molly Malone statue.

You will meet with your fellow travellers at the Molly Malone Statue on Suffolk Street (remember to get there 10 minutes early).

10:30am - Jump aboard and take a cruise down Killary Harbour (April - Oct) / or visit Killary Sheep Farm (Nov - March).

Our first stop is to Killary Harbour where we board our vessel for the morning. Take in panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. You will view rolling mountains, silvery seas, deep valleys and colours of green fields and purple heather. In November to march the boat tour is replaced with a sheep dog demonstration.

12:45pm - Drive through Inagh Valley and make a photo stop at Kylemore Abbey. Have lunch at the Abbey visitor centre (not included)

We now stop at Kylemore Abbey (entrance not included). You can explore the Victorian Walled Garden, Visit the restored rooms of the Abbey and learn about its history of tragedy, romance, education, innovation and spirituality. You will also be able to discover woodland and lakeshore walks that will take you on a beautiful journey through the estate. You can have a lovely lunch in the café and entrance to the abbey is at a discounted price of €8.

3:00pm - Visit the Glengowla silver and lead mines.

These Mines, which were abandoned in 1865, are a unique reminder of the 19th Century methods of ore extraction. You can learn about how life worked in the mines and the interesting history behind them in the museum.

7:00pm - Arrive back in Dublin city (Approx)

We now head back to Dublin after a day of the wonderful west of Ireland.
