The history of Irish Pewter can be traced back to more than 800 years ago. Today this ancient craft is still being performed in Mullingar by a team of Irish men and women that are highly trained in the skills of delicate hand finishing meticulous assembly and old casting methods.

Mullingar Pewter products have a distinctive medieval appearance and the owner will feel they are ancient mythical and a precious gift from the past.

This unique goblet is part of the Evangelist Collection which has scenes dedicated to St Matthew St Mark St Luke and St John. This particular one features St Luke and his symbol; the ox. In artwork his symbol is often protrayed winged just like on this goblet. This comes from the first story he tells in his gospel about Zakariah sacrificing the bull in the temple; a scene that represents Christ's own sacrifice. This is perhaps why he is sometimes known as the saint of buthers.

Mullingar Pewter is easy to store clean and is so expertly crafted they can be used as display pieces.
